Marmol Radziner
Leo Marmol, FAIA and Ron Radziner, FAIA teamed up to establish Los Angeles-based design/build firm Marmol Radziner in 1989. They quickly garnered a reputation for their innovative design, understanding of construction, and rigorous attention to detail. Taking on the role of the traditional “master builder,” their practice has since expanded to include architects, interior and landscape designers, metal fabricators, carpenters, furniture and cabinet-makers, and construction crew, allowing them to holistically conceive and meticulously realize their designs. Their love for the process of building and the essence of materials has led to new forays into prefabricated buildings and jewelry. The firm’s unique practice and commitment to design excellence was rewarded with the American Institute of Architects California Council’s 2004 Firm of the Year Award.

Firm Portfolio
Desert House
Located in Desert Hot Springs, California, the prototype prefab home is located on a five-acre site and oriented to best capture views of San Jacinto peak and the surrounding mountains. Doubling the 2000 square foot interior space, the home extends towards the landscape with covered outdoor living areas.
Experimental Ranch
Designed by architect Cliff May as his personal residence, the Experimental Ranch House is located in the Sullivan Canyon area of Los Angeles. Completed in 1952, the house is a unique example of the evolution of Ranch House design. The goal of the residential was to reinstate the original open plan layout while preserving the integrity of May’s exposed wood beam and rafter structure. The great room acts as the focal point of the house, containing the main living space and kitchen.
Altamira Residence
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the home occupies a 20-acre site along the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The project is a 15,500 square foot complex with a main residence, study, guesthouse, and garage. The design was inspired by the natural topography of the site and the client’s interest in geology.
Kaufmann Residence
Located in Palm Springs, California, the Kaufmann House was originally designed by architect Richard Neutra in 1946. The restoration returned the residence to its initial form, size, and aesthetic integrity. An important challenge of the restoration was to re-create the dialogue between nature and sculpture, a difficult undertaking in an area that has grown from a rugged desert into a suburban residential neighborhood.
Hidden Valley
Designed for an active couple as a vacation home, Hidden Valley sits on an open, hundred-acre site punctuated by red rock formations and cliffs in the arid desert of Moab, The design of the home blends indoor and outdoor living spaces, with expansive decks, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an open plan.
Vienna Way Residence
Designed for a family, the Vienna Way Residence is located in Venice, California. Floor to ceiling glazing and connected outdoor living spaces seamlessly integrate the home with the California native landscape.
James Perse Malibu
Originally the timber storage warehouse on the site, the James Perse Malibu store features exterior black stained siding, contrasted with the warmly illuminated white interior. Tall painted oak cabinetry, reclaimed teak flooring and exposed wood ceiling add to the beach house atmosphere of the space.
The Accelerated School
Located in South Los Angeles, the Accelerated School is a 131,000 square foot, Pre-K through 12 educational campus accommodating nearly 1,100 students. The project encompassed three new three-story and four-story buildings, a permanent two-story modular building, and a cafeteria and daycare center. Teachers have the freedom to open the interior classroom spaces to the outdoors via large sectional doors, enabling class sessions to be held outside on terraces or in shaded courtyard areas.
LAX First Flight
Located at the Los Angeles International Airport, First Flight provides services for children ages six weeks to five years old. Surrounded by four acres of park, the 9,200 square foot center incorporates classrooms, administrative offices, staff facilities, and an extensive outdoor play area. The community of prefabricated buildings is arranged in a U-shape around the play yard, which is organized by function and age group.

Marmol Radziner Furniture offers a collection designed, built, and sold by architects. Our Cabinet shop and metal shop are run by architects concerned with the smallest details and the broad view, allowing for a line of furniture with clarity of design and integrity of construction.

A natural extension of the design/build architecture firm Marmol Radziner, Marmol Radziner jewelry transforms industrial remnants into personal, portable, architectural fragments. Each solid bronze piece is handmade by master craftsmen in our workshop and designed to be as individual as the person who wears it. The patina of every piece will evolve over time in response to the wearer and no finishes will ever stay the same.
