The Whistler Cork Teapot in MoMA's Destination Portugal collection demonstrates what can come about when designers use indigenous materials to create modern products.
Portuguese designer Raquel Castro is doing her bit to help Portugal's cork industry, which has suffered in recent years from the wine and champagne industry's move to screw-top lids and plastic closures. We think the considered application of cork's thermal properties is a stroke of genius. The teapot also has sugar and creamer containers and teacups to match.
